Send to Kobo Is Included with Paid Kobo Stack
Kobo's Canada Stack page lists Send to Kobo at $3.99 CAD a month. The Great Britain page lists £2.99 a month. A free Kobo account does not include email upload.
Good e-Reader reported on 6 November 2026 that Send to Kobo uses Kobo Stack, a paid subscription. Kobo's Canada Stack page lists Kobo Stack at $3.99 CAD a month after a 90-day trial, and says that trial is not valid in QC. Kobo's Great Britain Stack page lists Kobo Stack at £2.99 a month after a 90-day trial.
What is included
The Canada page marks "Send to Kobo: upload to Kobo Cloud by email" as not included with a free Kobo account and included with Kobo Stack, and it says emailed ebooks, PDFs, and documents go to a unique Kobo Stack address and appear in the library on any connected device. The Great Britain page uses the same "Send to Kobo: upload to Kobo Cloud by email" row, not included on the free account and included with Kobo Stack.
The Kobo help page says Kobo Stack is a subscription for uploading files, syncing reading progress across Kobo devices and apps, and managing a library in one place, and that pricing varies by region. It lists Kobo Stack in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Great Britain, New Zealand, and Spain, on Kobo eReaders running software beta 6.0 or later, including the Kobo Libra Colour, the Kobo Clara Colour, and the Kobo Clara BW, the help page says. Supported app versions on that page are iOS 11.5 or later and Android 11.1 or later.
The help page says Kobo Cloud stores personal files up to 50GB, with upload by dragging files into the library on kobo.com or by Send to Kobo email to a Kobo Stack address, and that supported file types are PDF, EPUB, and LCP EPUB only, with a maximum file size of 200 MB.
Kobo Plus is unlimited access to a catalogue of more than 3 million ebooks and audiobooks, the Canada page says. Kobo Stack, by contrast, is for managing a personal library, including books from the Kobo Store and from other sources.
What stays free
The help page says that with software beta 6.0, multiple library support with Libby does not require a Kobo Stack subscription and is available for free, and that connecting a Kobo account to CloudLibrary does not require Kobo Stack.
The help page says prepaid cards cannot be used to start a free trial or a subscription, and it names Visa, Mastercard, American Express, iDEAL/Wero, PayPal (excluding Brazil), and Bancontact (Belgium only) as accepted payment methods.
Warranty, trial, and cancellation
The Canada page lists a manufacturer's eReader warranty of 1 year on a free Kobo account and 3 years with Kobo Stack. The help page says eligible devices can be covered by a 3-year extended warranty, beyond the standard warranty period.
The Canada page says the 90-day trial is for new subscribers and Kobo OS Beta participants only, that billing begins after the trial, that a subscriber can cancel during the trial without being charged, and that the trial offer is not valid in QC. The Great Britain page also lists a 90-day trial for new subscribers and Kobo OS Beta participants, then £2.99 a month.
The help page says that if a subscriber cancels, files remain in the account for 60 days, syncing books across the Kobo ecosystem stops, files may be permanently deleted if they are not backed up before that period ends, and any extended warranty coverage associated with Kobo Stack is canceled for covered devices.
Amazon offers similar functionality for free, and PocketBook and Onyx Boox do as well, Good e-Reader wrote.
