KDP Says Audible Plus Virtual-Voice Listens Belong in Audible Royalties, Not KENP

KDP's October 31 FAQ says Audible Plus listens for virtual-voice audiobooks left the KENP count, including past months, and now sit with Audible royalties.

KDP has published a Reporting Updates FAQ, dated October 31, 2026, on where Audible Plus listens for virtual-voice audiobooks went. The FAQ says KDP "noticed some questions and confusion about recent changes to reporting related to audiobook listening activity, particularly from authors in the Audiobooks with virtual voice beta." It says reports no longer show those Audible Plus listens, and that the pages "were previously included in the overall KENP pages read count." The same answer says the change was also made to historical data. PT covered the dashboard drop when that split had not been spelled out.

What left the page count

The FAQ says that with the launch of audiobooks in Kindle+ on October 21, 2026, the KENP report now shows Kindle+ Read and Kindle+ Listened pages combined, including ACX audiobooks and audiobooks with virtual voice. A filter on the report separates pages read from pages listened.

Because the old Audible Plus listens were stripped from historical totals as well, the FAQ says authors in the virtual-voice beta "may see a more noticeable change." KDP's Royalties in Kindle+ page still describes the KENP report as one that "shows customers' Kindle+ reading and listening activity only."

Where the royalties show up

The FAQ says royalties for customer listening in Audible Plus "are paid separately and are not included in the KDP Select Global Fund." It says there has been no change to how those Audible royalties are earned, and that authors still receive Audible Plus royalties along with other Audible transaction types.

KDP's audiobook royalties page says virtual-voice listening in Audible Plus "is paid from a separate fund," in addition to the money paid for Kindle+ reading and listening. The same page says Audible earnings, including ALC and Audible Plus, "aren't impacted by Kindle+ enrollment."

On the reports themselves, the FAQ says Audible Plus listens and other virtual-voice activity on Audible are now grouped in the Audible Royalties column of the Prior Months' Royalties and Payments reports. Audible Plus royalties for the prior month are added to that column when KDP announces the KDP Select Global Fund, which the FAQ places at mid-month. Other Audible virtual-voice sales, such as a la carte, credit, and add-on purchases, show during the month as they happen.

The Royalties Estimator is narrower than that column. The FAQ says the tool "does not include estimated royalties earned from customer listening activity via the Audible Plus catalog." It does estimate Kindle+ pages read and listened, and it includes a la carte purchases on Kindle and Audible. The audiobook royalties page says the KENP report has separate columns for Kindle+ Read and Kindle+ Listened.

The FAQ also repeats that an author is paid the first time a subscriber reads or listens to a given page. PT already reported that rule from the help pages, including the case where a later listen of the same pages pays nothing extra.

What the FAQ does not settle

The FAQ's answers stay on audiobook listening, and on the virtual-voice beta in particular. They do not mention a drop for titles that have no audiobook at all. Authors in that spot still have to compare a finished month's Prior Months' Royalties report with Payments and keep their own dated downloads.

The Royalties in Kindle+ page says monthly KENP numbers may change and are finalized near the 15th of the following month. Until that finished report is in, the estimator is only an estimate, and it leaves Audible Plus listens out.
