Hachette to Distribute Global Brother in the US and Canada
The Lost Book of Herbal Remedies publisher moves into US and Canadian stores through Hachette, effective October 5. Workman has acquired Nicole Apelian's The Green Pill Solution.

What was announced? Hachette Book Group said on Monday, October 19, 2026, that it will represent Global Brother, the publisher of The Lost Book of Herbal Remedies, for sales and distribution in the United States and Canada. The arrangement took effect on October 5. In the same announcement, Workman said it has acquired The Green Pill Solution by Nicole Apelian. Albert Lee and Rebecca Gradinger of United Talent Agency brokered the deals.
Global Brother's list is self-reliance, herbal reference, and practical living. Hachette's job, as the release describes it, is to take those titles into wholesale and brick-and-mortar retail. For where the company stands now, see our report on Ben Sevier's appointment as chief executive and the Hachette coverage page.
A direct publisher looking for a shelf
Global Brother reached readers first through direct channels. The announcement says titles such as Forgotten Home Apothecary and The Lost Skills of Independence found large audiences, selling millions of copies worldwide and being translated in over 15 languages so far.
Claudiu Giurgi founded the company in 2015. Hachette's account says it grew from a local European company to a global presence with over 12 branches, including two in the USA and one in Canada. Global Brother's own description, printed in the release, says the firm has over 11 years of experience developing its own products and taking them from concept to launch. It names three areas of publishing. Natural living and wellness is educational content on plants, traditional knowledge, and practical approaches to a more natural lifestyle. Self-sufficiency and preparedness covers practical resources for independence, preparedness, and traditional skills. DIY and practical living is project-oriented content for people who want useful skills and more self-reliance.
Giurgi said the new agreement is a response to mail he already gets. "The distribution agreement with Hachette will make our books available to our customers right in their local stores. Not a day goes by, that we don't receive messages from our clients asking where to buy our books in stores. It was just the normal course to find a solid partner that can deliver our books right where they are needed."
Russell Evans, senior vice president of business development at Hachette Book Group, described the same split from the distributor's side. "Global Brother has done an incredible job building a readership from the ground up, outside the traditional retail path. Our job is to give those books a shelf presence to match the following they have worked to develop." He added, "There is a large audience for this kind of practical, keep-on-the-shelf reference, and we are excited to bring Global Brother titles to more readers."
What Hachette is taking on
Global Brother joins what the release calls a growing HBG US Distribution roster of publishers. Hachette says it provides bespoke sales and distribution support based on each client's business model and needs.
The distribution operation, as Hachette describes it, draws together order management, fulfillment, and cash collection in the US for Hachette Book Group and its third-party client publishers. Those clients represent 50 percent of the business. Warehouse operations are based in Indiana. The fulfillment team is based in Indiana and Boston. Credit control and client accounting are based in Boston.
Hachette Book Group describes itself as a leading US general-interest publisher, with dozens of imprints inside Basic Books Group, Grand Central Publishing Group, Hachette Audio, Little, Brown and Company, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, Orbit, Workman Publishing, and Running Press Group. It also sells distribution, fulfillment, and sales services to other publishing companies. The release says the company is part of Hachette Livre, which it calls the world's third-largest trade and educational publisher.
The book Workman acquired
The Workman deal is the other half of the announcement. Lia Ronnen, senior vice president, publisher, and editorial director of Workman, said: "Nicole Apelian has the rare ability to walk the line between science and natural holistic care, and she can speak to both worlds authentically and with true expertise. We are thrilled to publish The Green Pill Solution next spring; it is a book that has the potential to help just about everyone, whether they are dealing with significant health issues or just looking to optimize their everyday health and longevity."
That is the publisher speaking about the book. The title, as the release gives it, is The Green Pill Solution: A Science-Backed, Integrated Approach to Wellness and Longevity. Workman will publish it in hardcover on April 6, 2027. The announcement does not give a price, a print run, or an advance.
Workman, in the same release, says it publishes books for life's big and small moments, from pregnancy and parenting guides to cookbooks, plus self-help, travel, humor, and a calendar line it calls the bestselling in the business. It names Ramit Sethi, Ben Schott, Paint by Sticker, and Page-A-Day Calendars among its authors and brands. Bestsellers it lists include What to Expect When You're Expecting, I Will Teach You to be Rich, The Silver Palate Cookbook, The Barbecue Bible, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, There Are Moms Way Worse Than You, and Atlas Obscura.
Why it matters for authors and publishers
This is a direct-to-consumer publisher moving into bookstores through a Big Five distributor. Global Brother, by the announcement's account and by Giurgi's, already had readers. What those readers were asking for was a store. Hachette is the sales and distribution piece, effective October 5, across the US and Canada.
For authors at a house that sells direct, the useful distinction is the one Evans draws. An audience built outside traditional retail is not the same thing as wholesale placement, and the release treats them as a sequence: following first, shelf second. Hachette says the support it offers client publishers is shaped to each business model, and that outside clients are half of its US distribution business. The release does not say what Global Brother will pay, or which accounts will stock the list.
Apelian's next book is a different arrangement. The Green Pill Solution will be a Workman hardcover, with a pub date of April 6, 2027, while the rest of the Global Brother catalog stays with Global Brother and gains Hachette distribution. The two deals were brokered together, by Lee and Gradinger at United Talent Agency.
